His Approval

She tries so hard to meet his expectations.

In the back of her mind she knows she can’t.

He calls her fat, she doesn’t eat.

He calls her dumb, she spends hours studying.

She’ll do almost anything just to get his approval,

Just to hear him say those simple words,

“I’m proud of you.”

She stays in all days of the week to study

And work hard to earn that approval,

While all her friends are out living their life.

She feels trapped in this life.

She’s the definition of a people pleaser,

But she takes it over the top especially when it comes to him.

He always contradicts himself,

He’ll say one thing but mean the other,

Making it impossible for her to understand him.

So until that day she’ll stay trapped in her tears.
